IEEE802.3af Passive Poe Injector 48V 15W For Ip Camera
An IEEE standard for powering network devices via Ethernet cable. Also known as "Power-over-Ethernet" (PoE), the 802.3af specification provides 48 volts over 4-wire or 8-wire twisted pair. The 8-wire cable uses one twisted pair for the power, while the 4-wire transmits the power over the same pair as the data, but uses different frequencies. Designed for such devices as IP phones, cameras and Wi-Fi access points, 802.3af allows them to be placed in locations that have no electrical outlets. Only the Ethernet cable needs to be connected.
(Power Over Ethernet) Distributing power over an Ethernet network. Because the power and signal are on the same cable, PoE enables remote network devices such as ceiling-mounted access points, surveillance cameras and LED lighting to be installed far away from AC power sources.
A PoE switch creates a PoE network, which supports both PoE and regular non-Poe devices. With adapters, PoE devices can be added to an existing Ethernet network . Using at least Cat 5 cable, electricity is transmitted over unused wires in eight-wire cables and over signal wires in four-wire cables.

What is the difference between 802.3 AF and 802.3 at?
The big difference between 802.3af (PoE) and 802.3at (PoE+) is the amount of power delivered over each standard. 802.3af (PoE) can deliver 15.4 watts over Cat5 cables. 802.3at (PoE+) can deliver up to 30 watts over Cat 5 cables with 25.5 watts available to devices
